Nathan Smith
INSTRUMENTALIST

Nathan Smith is a talented 16-year-old who has received the highest mark in the 2025 ABRSM Performance exam for piano at Grade 7. He is currently preparing for the Grade 8 exam. This is just one of the many great achievements of Nathan in his music career. So far, he has received the highest overall score within his grade in the category of classical piano at least twice at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) annual festival of the performing arts.
He has a natural love for the piano or keyboard and spends hours practicing.
Nathan’s music career started at the age of four(4) when he enrolled as a student at the Western Tutorial Music School operated by Mr. Harvey Gilzene, his lifetime coach.
His dedication to the arts was evident in his participation in the Montego Bay Preparatory music and dance program which won numerous gold medals and national awards. He is a dedicated musician for his church, Shortwood Baptist, St James, where he plays not only the keyboard but also the drums.
Nathan is a top Grade 11 student at the Herbert Morrison Technical High School where he excels in Mathematics, his favorite subject. He is passionate, energetic, soulful and a quite a dynamo when he touches a piano or keyboard. He has strong support from members of his family who has being his greatest cheer leader at every step of his musical journey.
Nathan aspires to be an excellent pianist and an Actuary. He is honoured to be selected to represent Jamaica at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Las Vegas, California and looks forward to sharing his talent on the world stage.
